SSD Compatibility

Hi,

I am having HP Pavilion Laptop 14-ce0xxx with 1 TB HDD and this laptop super slow. I wanted to replace HDD to SSD.

Please suggest the compatible SSD and what all different tools do I need for this replacement.

Firstly, GREAT idea to scrap any spinning drive, it will make a HUGE difference.

Spinning drive are usually 2.5" models so you can use any SSD in the same format.  Almost anything will work.

Google your model and add replace hard drive and you will find someone showing you all the steps.

On business models (non-pavilion) this is usually super simple.  On cheaper consumer models, sometimes, if there is no easy access panel, you have to pry open the cover with a spudger (or guitar pick, or credit card).

You can use an 'advisor web page' from someone like Crucial to get the part number to order.

Your Service Guide  shows an M.2, PCIe, NVMe slot along with your 2.5" SATA slot.

I'd suggest any Samsung, Western Digital, or Crucial M.2 PCIe 3x4 ssd. Preferably 512GB or larger. The service manual listed above shows you how to remove the bottom cover for access to the M.2 slot. I usually tell people to buy a cheap cell phone repair tool kit to assist you in removing the bottom cover, as pocket knife or jewelers screwdriver will mar the cover.

If you go this route, you'll need to reinstall Windows.
