I'm using KXG50ZNV512G -serial 38PB85BTK5YS with firmware AAHA4102 from Microsoft in an HP X360 Envy notebook. The performance monitor show 2945 MB/s read and 463 MB/s write speed. The SSD utility I downloaded doesn't recognize the SSD, HP doesn't offer an update... Anything I can do other than buy and install a new SSD? I contacted Toshiba, but they don't offer support for OEM SSDs and redirected me back to HP. Where can I get firmware that gets decent performance out of the Toshiba SSDs? 463 write speed is clearly sub-standard.

I wish I had encouraging news for you -- but I don't.
I have several different brands of SSDs across my different PCs and in all cases, I was able to go to the SSD manufacturer, download their SSD utilities, and do firmware checking and updating.
If Toshiba does not provide this, then you are probably stuck. You could try other manufacturer utilities -- Crucial, Kingston, Samsung, ADATA, SanDisk -- but I don;t know if any of those can work with Toshiba SSDs.
I think I saw something in the news recently about Toshiba getting out of the PC business. If this is any indication of their customer support, that is not going to be any great loss.

Thanks for the quick reply. Actually it would be nice to be able to access support directly from the component supplier, but if they say that they have an agreement with the system supplier (HP) that something between HP and Toshiba.
From a formal perspective my contact is with the supplier of the system HP and I'd expect a solution from them, i.e. a firmware link to a patch that solves the problem or a specific download (whereever HP got that from).
I do agree that selecting component suppliers that offer direct support are the best choice from the consumer point of view, for all involved, but if the component supplier (Toshiba) offered a particually attractive component price to HP and they sold the system, its up to HP to provide the solution and not to redirect to the component supplier.
