HP 14s CR1005TU
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am planning to buy HP 14s CR1005TU (8th Gen Core i5-8265U/8GB/256GB SSD + 1TB HDD). This machine has SSD as well as HDD

Does it use SSD for OS and  applications by default or does it depend upon individual usage pattern (machine learning)?

Also, does it allow for future up-gradations of the SSD component to higher capacities (should the need arise)?

It has M.2 slot for M.2 SSD (256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD) and  1 TB 5400 rpm SATA. For dual storage machines, HP puts by default:

(a) OS and normal programs (apps) to faster storage (SSD)

(b) and leaves 2.5" HDD for user's data/files.

In future, you can upgrade 256GB M.2 SSD to larger (capacity) and also 1TB HDD to larger (capacity) HDD or SSD.

Regards.
