HP Pavilion 14-al005ne (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone,

I wanted to know if I can install M.2 ssd in my laptop (HP Pavilion 14-al005ne (ENERGY STAR)) along with my current hard disk. I could not really find a slot for it. Is there something which I did not notice or my laptop does not support M.2 ssd? I searched online and found M.2 ssd for the same model as well so im pretty confused.

Any help is appreciated. Thank You!

PS: I have attached an image of the laptop as well.

Hi:

The 2.5" SSD size you need is 2.5" x 7.0 mm.

If you can get this model in the UAE, it would provide the best performance for the price.

Amazon.com: Western Digital 500GB WD Blue 3D NAND Internal PC SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/s, 2.5"/7mm, Up to...

If you have another brand or capacity SSD in mind, it would be fine to post the link to it.

Hi:

Your notebook is missing the SSD slot, which if the PC came with a M.2 SSD from the factory would have been just to the right of the upper right side of the battery.

You can see the circuitry for the slot and the standoff to secure the SSD to 80 mm below that slot, next to the lower left side of the battery.

If you want to install a SSD, you will need to remove the 2.5" mechanical hard drive and install a 2.5" SSD.

It would be too much trouble to try and find the parts you need to add the M.2 slot for a M.2 SATA SSD.

You can see the parts you need in chapter 3 of the service manual...

So in short, M.2 ssd cannot be installed in this model and I should go for 2.5" ssd?
And there is no other way I can use my existing hard disk to store data?

HP Recommended

That's correct, and no, there isn't a way to use the existing HDD for storage.

and am I allowed to post amazon link here just to confirm if the ssd is compatible with my laptop or I should just mentioned the name?
