I'm looking to upgrade my SSD, possibly replace it with a 1TB HDD or just a larger SSD, as well as my RAM, processor and possibly the GPU.  Would it be possible to change these modules on my laptop?  How easy would it be and could I still get support from HP if I did so?

Lets break this down a little.

You can replace the SSD with a larger m.2 sata SSD. You can also add an HDD for storage.

You would probably need the HDD brackets also since your system did not come with HDD.

You can add up to 16 GB total. Since you have one 8 GB stick, you can add another, also in the manual.

No. the cpu and gpu are fixed in laptops and cannot be changed. You would need to buy another laptop that has the hardware you want already built in.

We at HP strongly recommend that you do not replace the hardware components to any 3rd Party products.

This could severely affect the normal working of your notebook and could also affect the warranty ( if still in warranty)

 

DO let us know the complete model name and product number of your unit to further advice.

If I were to get a new SSD, I've seen the SSD sticks and I've seen rectangular cartridges, which ones should I use and which size?

Not sure of the source of your information. I saw you advising someone not  to install a 3rd party hard drive. HP does not make hard drives so all hard drives are third party. It is also may be a problem under federal law for an OEM to try to restrict the source of replacement parts. @erico has also I think quite astutely raised the issue of your status as an HP employee. 

 

So basically unless you have something other than saying there is nothing the OP can do for self-help it is not much help.
