Hi:
That model SSD will only work if your notebook has an AMD Ryzen processor.
If your notebook has an AMD 'A' series processor, the M.2 slot only supports SATA M.2 SSD's.
Here's a video for how to install a M.2 SSD in a 245 G7...

Yes, the Crucial P2 will work fine.
You can do much better than that P2 model though.
Like a Samsung 980 (not Pro) or a Western Digital Blue SN 570.

You're very welcome.
You have a couple of options.
1. If you don't need any data on the currently active hard drive, you can use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook on the new SSD.
Just make sure you select the SSD to install on and not the hard drive.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility. You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive for this.

2. If you want to transfer everything from the hard drive to the SSD, you can use a free cloning utility such as Macrium Reflect to do that.
You want the software on the left side of the page under the Backup at Home section.

You can watch this video for how to clone a larger hard drive's contents to a smaller drive.

You're very welcome.
Yes, on some model HP notebooks, the SSD does not show up in the BIOS.
What you need to do is to temporarily disconnect the 2.5" drive so that the Windows boot manager automatically switches to the SSD.
Once you verify that Windows is booting from the SSD, and works fine, you can reconnect the 2.5" drive.
I recommend you format the hard drive and use it for storage because it causes booting conflicts when Windows is installed on two drives.
