Hi,
I recently boght a HP 15-ra049nq laptop with a very good price, but I'm a little bit disapointed with the overall performance, and that is why I want to upgrade it.
I have tried searching the internet, but unfortunately I didn't find to many inf about this product.
I'm interested in finding out:
A) what is the maximum amount of RAM that it can take in
B) does it have a slit for M2 SDD
C) does a second HDD can be added by replacing the opticalo drive with a HDD cady?
Thanks 🙂

A) 8 gigs. DDR3L-1600 SO-DIMM. This is not a new laptop right? There is a single memory slot because it is a Celeron processor so even with 8 gigs its never going to be a barn burner.
B) No but you can and should replace the slow 5400 rpm hard drive with a 2.5 inch SATA SSD. Probably the best single upgrade.
C) Yes that can be done but we can discuss the wisdom of it if you wish.
Start on p. 43 for disassembly. Post back with any other questions and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

Hi Huffer,
It is a new laptop, but I prefere to waiver the waranty instead of working with this performance. I already have all the stuff (8GB DDR3L-1600 & 1TB HDD - from a previous HP i3 laptop that broke and a new Kingstone 240GB SSD drive), so from the point of view of money, the only extra investment I will need to do, is the HDD cady (to accomodate the 1TB HDD).
Can you please tell me why you think a HDD caddy is not wise?
Thank you.

The caddy adds weight and a drive placed in one does not perform very well because of limits on the SATA port for the optical drive. But if paired with a SSD as the boot drive its really like having a big usb memory stick inside the laptop so if you need mass storage its about the only choice. Optical caddies are readily available on amazon.com. Good luck.
