Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi There! I'm using 14-d010tu Notebook PC. It's super slow now due to HDD. I wanna install a SSD so that it boots/operates faster. But I can't see any document/article related to SSD installing for this specific laptop. Is there any option to install M.2 SSD in this device? Or I need to replace my Optical drive to install SSD?

It is an old machine. It does not have M.2 slot for storage. Using ODD (optical Disc Drive) for SSD is NOT a good idea, machine won't go faster. Your machine only has 500 GB 5400 rpm SATA, you can:

  • replace existing HDD using a larger (1TB or 2TB) 2.5" SDD and still can keep ODD. You can use old HDD as an external HDD.
  • or replace old HDD with a 2'5" SSD and move old HDD to ODD slot, now you won't have ODD.

The main point is to install SSD on old HDD location, not on ODD.

Hope this makes sense.

Regards.

I'm planning to buy HP S700 SSD 2.5”/7mm 250GB SATA 6.0 Gb/s for my laptop.

It will work on my laptop & speeds up the performance, right? (I will not do anything for ODD. It will be remained same. Just want to replace my 500 GB HDD with 250 GB SSD)
