Hi again Brian....success!!??   :  )

 

I attached the SSD via a USB cable and - running off the old HDD - I did a direct Clone to the SSD.

 

I then installed the SSD.... the system runs GREAT, speedier than ever    :  )

 

Many many thanks for your support Brian, without which I may just have given up.  My grandkids now have a decent-speed Laptop to fallout over!!??    :  )
