Hi @Bhishmar,
You can install an M.2 solid-state drive into the hard drive bay using an adapter bracket and connector board.
Only Memory is non-customer-accessible/upgrade part. You can go ahead and install SSD on your PC.
What is "Value" & "TLC" M.2 SSD Configurations mentioned in page-3, as well as in your 1st reply.
Simply Two brand names? TLC - Stands for Triple level cell
Does HP 15-BS576TX M.2 slot support both SATA-3.0 & PCIe-3.0 interfaces? M.2 Slot support SATA-3
Please give me some more time where I can research more on the rest of the information and get back to you with more details.
You've been great to work with and it has been a genuine pleasure interacting with you.
Take care now and do have a fabulous week ahead. 🙂

Hi Jeet_singh
Thanks for your quick reply & answers.
However I have some follow up questions as below:-
1. I have downloaded the "Maintenance & Service Guide" pdf from the link provided by you: (c05493257.pdf).
The page-9 "Product Description" lists following models as applicable:
HP 15 -bs0xx
HP 15g-br0xx
HP 15 -bu0xx
However the model I am interested in (& asked questions about ) is the latest HP 15-BS576TX.
Can u pls provide a link for this particular model's guide?
Or is the model (corresponding to the download above) have the exact configuration & System-motherboard as HP 15-BS576TX ?
2. Regardig my earlier qn-1, you answered:
"Yes, you can install M.2 Solid-state drive into the PC".
Pls clarify whether this is an additional slot, or it is the same slot as existing 1TB HDD?
(meaning only one at a time can be installed/operated !!)
3. Regarding my 2nd qn: regarding feasibility of booting Windows, thru SD-Card?
You answered:
"Yes, you can order a set of recovery media from HP".
Does HP provide recovery-media in SD-Card?
4. Regarding ChipSet/MB, I asked it, to know about any performance benchmarks available in internet, for this model or any similar model configuration (with same chipset MB)?
Do you have any web-links to point me to?

Hi @Bhishmar,
Thank you for replying,
As I understand you are having couple of questions and I'd be glad to help you.
Can u pls provide a link for this particular model's guide? Maintenance and Service shared to you contains the information which is common for that series, which has the common chasis.
Your laptop PROBABLY has an M.2 port that will take a SATA type M.2 disk in addition to the hard drive. The M.2 port if it has one is just to the left of the hard drive.
Does HP provide recovery-media in SD-Card? No, Earlier HP used to ship a set of recovery dvds, and USB flash drive, but now you do have a option of sending a download link to your email address where you can go ahead and download it onto your USB Flash drive (Note: The size of the fflash drive should be 32 GB). I would suggest you contact our HP phone support for more details
Regarding ChipSet/MB --- I would suggest you can go through the Maintenance and Service guide which has the list of System board and Chipset which are compatible and tested for your PC. You could replace the part on your own, use the HP Parts surfer to identify the part: Click here & order it via the HP Parts store (Click here) or check through online retailer.
All I would suggest here is do a little recon work before you spend the money on an M.2 disk and post back if you need any more help with that.
Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,
It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.
If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts,
mark my post as Accepted Solution.

Hi Jeet_Singh
Thanks for your time & effort taken in reply & clarifications.
I have given a Thumps up.
But Before tagging "Accepted Solution", I need further clarifications.
1. Your answer says:
" Your laptop PROBABLY has an M.2 port ....."
PROBABLY!! - This is NOT an acceptable answer!
I cannot purchase an SSD, & later findout that the Laptop does not support it.
The "Maintence & Service Guide" page-3 (link provided by you), says it supports M.2 SATA-3 configurations.
You also said, this document applies to the series of LapTops, of which BS576TX is a part.
But the document does not list BS576TX!! as such. Is this why you say PROBABLY?
I need a definite answer. No amount of web-searching is giving me this.
This confirmation has to come from HP itself.
2. Is M.2-SSD, a customer accessible/upgradable slot as per HP warranty terms?
3. What is "Value" & "TLC" M.2 SSD Configurations mentioned in page-3, as well as in your 1st reply.
Simply Two brand names?
4. Does HP 15-BS576TX M.2 slot support both SATA-3.0 & PCIe-3.0 interfaces?
5. Does HP 15-BS576TX, M.2 expansion slot, is both "B" & "M"-keyed?
6. What is the maximum dimensions of SSD drives supported by HP-15BS576TX?
(22x 60 mm, 22x80 mm, or 22x 110 mm)?
Request you to please give numbered answers to each of my query.

Hi Jeet_Singh
Thanks for ur time & efforts.
I could'nt get back to u earlier, since there was a problem in accessing my account.
I have given a ThumsUp & flagged Accepted solution, since u have answered majority of questions.
But I would expect you to answer the other qn also:
Does HP 15-BS576TX M.2 slot support both SATA-3.0 & PCIe-3.0 interfaces?
Also is the Maintenance Service Guide (c05493257) pointed out by you, for all HP-15 series laptops?
I see it mentions "15-bs0xx" in Page-1 (Prod Descr), along with 15-bu0xx, & 15g-br0xx.
But does not mention 15-bs576tx !!
What is diff btw 7th Gen Dis & UMA in page-1?
Incidenatlly I visited HP-World shop in Tvm, & posed the M.2 slot question .
They said only HP Pavilion supports M.2 slots !! I hope they r wrong & U are correct.
All hinges on above said doc, is relevant for bs576tx!

Hi COE2k14
If you mean physically open & tried to findout it has M2-SSD slot.
Then I did not do it. But now I am sure it has it.
The "HP 15 LapTop Maintenance & Service Guide" pdf document (c05493257), says so in its
Chapter-1. Product Description, Hard Drives sub-section. page-3.
It says it support M2.SATA SSD, upto 256GB in "value", & upto 512GB in "TLC"
I think "value" & "TLC" are two types of makes or models (I am not sure).
Dual HDD + SSD Configuration also supported in this NoteBook. (1TB HDD + 256/128GB SSD "Value").
If you know more about what "Value" & "TLC" means, then pls share.
Initially I had a doubt whether, the above document (c05493257) really pertains to this particular notebook, since the document nowhere mentions about 15-BS576TX.
But Page-1 "Product description" 1st line is as follows:-
"HP 15 Laptop PC, model numbers: 15-bs0xx"
I later found out that "15-bs0xx" is the generic model number or "product name" of 15-BS576TX. It is in the BIOS System Info & other places of this LapTop.
No experts confirmed this simple thing even after my repeated queries here. So much for experts....!!
I think but M2-SSD is not a customer upgradable slot, eventhough one expert above says so, since It is listed under Chapter-6: "Removal and replacement procedures for Authorized Service Provider parts" (Not under customer Self-repair parts). You can peruse this thread above and find that how casual & unprofessional the answers are.
See about my question and answer to "Value" vs "TLC". Simply copies my question back, and expands acronym "TLC" !!
I think M2-SSD install requires some extra adapter-bracket & connector-board to be procured from HP, other than the SSD itself. Page-60 to 62 states it in detail, as well as the detailed SSD removal procedure.
