Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello!

I would like to upgrade the SSD of my notebook Envy 15-as105ng.

Unfortunately, the online datasheet at hp.com only mentions, that I need a "M.2 SSD", but there is no more information. Does anybody know more details, e.g. SATA or PCIe? What is the maximum size? 1 TB or 2 TB?

I would also be glad, If somebody can share the service manual with me.

Best regards

Martin

Hi, Martin:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

Chapter 1 has the supported M.2 drive types.

HP ENVY Notebook PC (model numbers 15-as100 through 15-as199 and 15-as000 through 15-as099) Maintena...

According to the manual the M.2 slot supports both SATA and NVMe SSD's.

But this discussion shows otherwise...only M.2 SATA SSD's are supported.

Hello!

I tried the Samsung SSD 980 MZ-V8V1T0BW, M.2 / NVMe, 1TB: It works well in the HP Envy 15-as105ng.

There was no BIOS update necessary and also no change of the BIOS settings.

The most challenging task was to open the laptop bottom cover.

Hi:

That is great news!

I wonder why a NVMe SSD didn't work in the 15-As103na sold in the UK in that discussion I posted for you.

Perhaps the drive the other person got was defective.
