Yes you can install a 2.5 inch SATA SSD in the main hard drive bay (there is actually a main and secondary hard drive bay) and there is no practical size limit other than your budget and what the SSD makers can offer. I have seen up to 4 TB but up to 2 TB are commonly available in most markets.
