Hello! Best Buy, shows that they will have the updated (Skylake i7) x360, on 10/17/15. I plan to return my current x360 and get the new one. However, the new one that I'm looking at, only comes with 256GB SSD. My question for you, is how easy is it to open up the unit to add a new SSD? I read somwhere else, that one must be very careful. It was stated that even the HP on-site tech person who installed a new WiFi card, ended up breaking an internal plastic clip. Are there any videos you've seen for the take down?

No video's that I'm aware of. Caution is requird ANYTIME you open a laptop. I don't think I broke anything opening mine. But probing around with a plastic card, (old credit card), I found it best to start with the front edge as I think the plastic clips are in the back. Lift up the bottom from the front and then pull it towards you at an angle and it should come off.
At the time I bought my x360 I went for the 256GB because I did not want the higher resolution that came with the 512GB model. I replaced the 256 with a Samsung 512 GB XP941 and am quite happy with it's performance. Although the Skylake model looks better as far as a Black keyboard, slightly better performance, and possibly battery life, it's too late to return mine.

Looks like this is coming out a the end of the month and Arstechnica has a good review of it. Is this one compatable also?

If the picture on Amazon is accurate whatever is sticking out under the bottom pins wull prevent it from fitting the socket on the x360. It could be just something behind the SSD to hold it for the photo but I can't see it clear enough to tell for sure. Newegg says available 12/01/15.

"But can the spectre take full advantage of the PCIe 3.0 version that this samsung 950 offers?"
The specs don't say but based on my tests of my Samsung XP-941 I would have to say Yes.
See my post with my results using ASSSD earlier in this thread.
