SSD upgrade problem

I migrated my Toshiba 500GB hard drive contents to Samsung 870 QVO 1 terabyte SSD and swapped the drive into my HP G62-b20SA notebook. Although it boots up and runs very quickly, it soon freezes with the Watchdog Violation error message, and then 're starts.

I have scanned the drive and there are no errors, and the drivers seem ok.  so, is this SSD incompatible or have I done something wrong?

The Samsung 870 SATA3 SSD is compatible.

The way you could have approached the upgrade is  far different than the way you did.
I am firm believer in the KISS principle.

I would have:

1) removed the old drive and replaced it with the new one.
2) installed Windows 10 and then gone online to let Windows activate itself.

3) The next steps would have been to install all of the software I need.

4) Put the old drive in an USB  2.5" SATA HD enclosure or use a USB to SATA3  connector.

5) Connect the choice of enclosure or cable to the laptop and use Windows Explorer to transfer the files.

You can still do that. Having a fresh Windows installation is a good thing.

You could also clone the Toshiba drive Windows install to the Samsung 870 QVO SSD. I have had my best success with Paragon cloning software. I have a USB  2.5" SATA HD enclosure and a USB to SATA3  connector. My preference is the USB to SATA3  connector.

Otherwise, repairing the current Windows 10 installation on the  Samsung 870 QVO SSD is going to be frustrating and quite time consuming.

Thanks Erico, I am relieved to hear that the SSD is compatible. I chose Samsung so I could use their cloning software. I made sure that Windows etc was up to date, and closed any running programs  and switched off WiFi before transfer. I used an Orico enclosure and the transfer was successful. However, I will definitely try the re-install method which I am sure will be much quicker than trying to find what is causing my original transfer to crash. Thanks for your help.
