I have upgraded from sata m.2 to nvme m.2 SSD. I have cloned the drives using crucial supplied software. However when booting up it said updates would take an hour. However when done I just have a blank screen. I have managed to access the HP set up and it recognises the SSD. So do I need to amend the bios slightly or is there an easier fix?

Hi @idlebantam

cloning can fail, I recommend installing windows on the new NVME disk.

Thank you but I believe it has worked. It seems that I need to tell the bios to switch to nvme. However I'm not sure how to do that.

no, the BIOS automatically recognizes a SATA or NVME,

OK my bad, thank you. I'll try the cloning process again. I'm trying to upgrade from a 256 GB to a 2tb capacity ssd. This is my first attempt at anything like this. As you can probably tell. 😁

I understand, verify that the disk is not partitioned into multiple disks. I am giving this advice without knowing the model of the computer, I hope your model supports NVMe disks.
