I would like to upgrade both the SSD and the RAM in my HP 17-CN1008CY. Where can I find the Service Guide for my laptop? What is the maximum amount of RAM it can hold? Any tips or advice on performing the upgrades?

Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)
Chapter 1 has the memory upgrade info and chapter 5 has the memory removal and replacement procedure.
According to chapter 1 of the manual, the max memory is 2 x 8 GB of DDR4-3200.
I'm thinking if you want to install more than that, 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-3200 memory should be supported.
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator. This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
Here is a service teardown video for the older 17-cn0xxx model series which also may be of help to you...
