HP Pavilion DV7-1130ev
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi I`m looking specifically for the service manual of HP Pavilion DV7-1130ev.

I`ve seen that there are many different DV7 manuals through the web so I`m looking if someone could point out to me the specific one.

Thank you!

You're very welcome.

What wattage power supply does your notebook have?

When you look at the parts list in the manual, it has 3...120, 90 and 65.

With a 45W processor, the 120 and 90 would probably be OK, but the 65 might be inadequate.

Also looking at the service manual there are only two fan/heatsink combos offered.

One with just the onboard graphics, and one for notebooks with the discrete graphics, such as yours.

That is good news in a way because HP isn't requiring stronger fans or heat sinks for the 35 and 45W processors.

So...I guess adding the best processor offered will generate more heat, but as long as you do a good job reapplying the thermal compound, you should be fine.

To me the weak link would be if you only have the 65W power adapter.

But I'm thinking you have the 90W one, because your notebook has the discrete nVidia graphics adapter.

Hi:

This should be the manual for your model.

Hello and thank you for the answer.

For some strange reason it is not!  I had already searched in the web and found this version but,

it does not include my CPU (P7350) neither the GPU (NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT) which makes me believe that it is not the correct manual..

Any ideas?

You're very welcome.

Yes, it appears that is not the correct manual.

The processor your notebook has is in the same family (about the same as the P7450), the  but not the graphics.

That is the closest one I could find.

The other manual is for notebooks with AMD processors, so that one is not even close.

Since the model series is over 10 years old, HP has removed most of the support pages and manuals.

Hello again and thank you for your answer.

To be honest with you, I had already found this manual in the web..

But since I needed the manual to try and upgrade my CPU do you believe I could trust and use the manual we are talking about?

Should I use one of the CPUs this manual gives as options?

Thank you once more.

You're very welcome.

I couldn't say for sure.

The processor your notebook has are all in the same family as the processors listed in that manual.

I picked 4 to compare.

The thing I don't like is the T9800 and Q9100 processors I selected run at higher wattages than yours, so to be on the safe side, I would select one that runs at the same 25W.  The quad core runs 20W hotter than yours.

The fastest one that runs at 25W is the P8700.

First of all thank you for the amazing detailed answer...!

Then I would like to ask, if I was to upgrade to a 35 or a 45W CPU - like the ones you actually tell me to avoid- the problem could be the wattage of the AC/DC power adapter, the higher heat inside the laptop, both, or something else that I miss? I`m asking more for knowledge reasons and not that I`m actually going to try it... 🙂

Well, that is an absolutely true statement, I have a 90W power supply.

And yes this is what I`ve gathered too from what you told me -that HP gives only two combinations of fans and heat sinks...

These are good news!!

Well, starting from a zero point and getting to the absolute solution, that was really amazing.

Thank you for the research and knowledge.

It`s going to come really handy, believe me!

As soon as I can I will try to find and buy a stronger CPU, replace the one I have and come back with the news.

Once again, thank you!

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

I hope that whatever processor you decide to get works, and I look forward to your report.
