Hi there!

I am also a more or less proud owner of a HP Envy x360 and it also has a lot of your issues for me. Since I am probably a little more tech-savvy than you, let me help you to resolve some of the issues first 🙂

About the crashes, video issues, and so on:

HP's support for this machine is incredibly sh*tty. The driver situation is a giant clusterf*ck, most drivers are horribly outdated. Especially the video driver. But you can fix that, at least partially.

Since HPs drivers are old as hell, and AMD doesn't offer any drivers for that chipset, you have to do a workaround with Windows Update, and manually install your video drivers.

Let me give you the link to this great tutorial, and if you have any trouble understanding, give me a shout!

https://www.dirtriverdesign.com/how-to-improve-hp-envy-x360-stability-amd-ryzen-2500u-vega-8-graphic...

That fixes the random crashes, freezes, video issues and missing textures in 3D apps. At least for me. Make sure to use the latest driver!

The driver issues come from conflicts with the display panels. HP uses 4 different panels. If you are lucky, you get a decent LG or AUO panel. If you're as unlucky as me, however, you get one of the very bad InnoLux or BOE panels. They suck. Drivers won't work, colors are off, they're so much worse than their LG and AUO counterparts. However, the new drivers fixed all issues with my InnoLux panel.

That's however the only help I can give you. Now let me tell you about my Envy. Oh boy, I got one of the worst machines.

- My facial recognition and screen orientation also spazz out sometimes. Not that much of an issue, but annoying.

- After DAYS of use, the hinges started making a clicking noise. The laptop was maybe opened 10 times.

- My rubber feet expanded due to excessive heat and fell off. Terrible design by HP! Now there's a ton of awful scratches on my white IKEA desk.

- My laptop fans are constantly revving up, even under little or no load.

- Extreme overheating when playing games or working with Video/Graphics

- After transporting the laptop in a HP leather case, the display panel sometimes refuses to turn on. I checked the cables and connectors of the panel, there wasn't any damage, so it's a display panel or APU issue

- Some of the clips holding the display panel in place broke off. Now the display is popping out a little on the left.

- Yesterday, a huge hairline crack appeared on my display glass, going from the upper right to the lower left corner. I didn't touch my laptop and nobody else was home at this time.

The Envy is a good machine, but it has a lot of flaws and HP seemingly doesn't give a turd on what their customers want. I'm getting my unit repaired on Monday, and I hope that they will fix all of these issues, or my next machine won't ever have a HP logo on it again.

I purchased an hp envy x360 15M from best buy on black friday. After almost overheating while charging, an obnoxiously loud (and apparently useless) fan and sound issues, I returned it 5 days later! Decided give the same model a go...

It's now been 3 days and despite the absence of the loud fan and normal temp around the charging port, my issues are worse!...  The sound's gone out twice, the touchpad started lagging so much that I had to raise the speed to max level and lastly, I had a critical event, leading to the "blue" screen and the system crashing.

Talked to hp support and sales and amazingly they all claim to have never heard of issues w/ envy x360. Yet, all I need to do is google and it's apparent that there's an issue w/ the envy and spectre lines.

Same issues I got this computer at the beginning of June 2019. I started having issues with it about a month ago so after 3 and a half months I started noticing all of these issues. I have to stay on the computer because if i walk away or just close it for a moment the screen turns black and its running, but completely unresponsive. So it's just running and gets hot I have no choice but to hold the power button until it turns off. The first time i noticed this I had been working on a project and was almost finished but after I walked away for a bit it was frozen I gave it plenty of time to see if it would unfreeze before having to shut it off. I lost that entire project because I hadn't saved it yet. I also noticed when I finish something on word and save it to my documents and then go to submit that file it will be nowhere to be found. I have to go back to my file explorer and open the file from there and then drag it over to submit my school work. Its a huge inconvenience I haven't been able to take it to best buy where I got it to have it checked out or returned. I have to young kids that hate riding in the car and aren't easy to handle in public. Not to mention even if they can fix it I cannot be out of a computer for any amount of days i'm a full time online college student.

The issue was the AMD chip. I got hp to refund my money in a form of credit n got an hp with an Intel chip. Big difference.  Never had this big of issue with AMD. I've owned many laptops with AMD but this one just did not work for me n many others, as I read forums with many users with the same issues that I've had. Now almost a year later im pleased with my new hp laptop but I feel in the future I will be looking into a high end tablet such as a Surface or something like it. I know eventually flipping my screen back en fourth from going from laptop to tablet mode will take a toll as did my hp before this one with all the problems.

I have been having the exact same issue since I purchased the computer. No amount of HP support or windows updates have been able to fix this issue. I have disabled sleep which seems to cause this issue, but it will also do it just sitting there for a moment. If I were to guess, it has something to do with the power states of the cpu.

You lucked out, the same can't be said by most other people.
