Pavilion 17z-e100
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Laptop stopped being able to boot up, staying at the circle-loading icon indefinitely. System diagnosing didn't go anywhere either. The hardware diagnostics Extensive Test showed a hard drive short DST check failed and the follwing failure ID: PU5A2X-72V8PN-MFPV6J-60VL03 (might be zero's or o's, can't really tell with the font). I tried reseating the hard drive, but it didn't change anything, and I can't find any resources to decypher this ID.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Sadly to say: Most of the time the 24 char failure id indicates the HDD is failing and it needs to be replaced. Is it still under warranry ? If Yes, please call HP for a replacement.

It's out of warranty, so that's a bit disappointing, but I'd much rather pay for a new hard  drive than a whole computer.

Thanks for your time!
