Should I keep my HP Omen 15 plugged into AC power with 100% battery?

Hi Guys,

I have a newly purchased Omen 15 laptop and have some questions regarding the battery. The Omen series does not have a great battery life since its a gaming series, so requires frequent battery recharge. I have read on multiple sources that the discharge-charge cycle hampers the battery life of the laptop. So, would it be a good practice to keep the laptop plugged in event though the battery is at 100%? Please suggest.

Keeping it plugged in does not harm the battery. But you can use it as you like. The battery is smart and will stop charging when it is plugged in and topped off. Try not to let it fall below about a 15% charge level. Use AC power when it is available and use the battery when you must. That's it.

The thing is that Omen laptops give around 3-3.5 hours of battery life. So, it needs to be recharged pretty quick. And those discharge-charge cycles gradually affect the battery. So, as you are saying, even after the battery is at 100%, I can keep it plugged in for around an hour or so, right?

You can keep it plugged in as much as you want. The battery stops accepting incoming charge when it is at 100%. No cycle will register when it is at full charge and plugged in only when it is below about 95%. So even if power drops to 95% and then you top off the smart chip will not register a cycle.
