No, it is not normal.
The "bend" / distortion is perhaps due to the battery having distended past its normal shape and size.
If this is the case...
Yes, at some point - likely sooner than later - the battery will fail
The battery must be removed and replaced.
Leaving the battery in the computer will also likely damage other components.
If the computer is under warranty, the battery can be replaced by HP Support under Warranty.
OR
You can replace the battery yourself or take the computer to a local computer repair depot.

You are welcome.
OK - it is unlikely the battery.
There is no Community, or Software / Drivers, or Windows solution for "bend".
Brand New computer is under hardware warranty, of course.
Contact HP Support - explain the situation and ask for help.

Well, OK.
I still don't know.
Best that you open the Service Guide for the computer and take a look at the illustrations.
Open Support Home
Enter the name of your device
Open Category Manuals
Look for the Service Guide - exact name varies but it is usually recognizable.
The very first chapter will show illustrations of the general notebook.
Further into the guide you will find illustrations of each of the major (and not so major) components.
If, after you look at the guide, you think there is something "not right" contact Support and ask.
If you are still not sure, use your favorite browser and search engine to search for images of your computer. Compare what you see with what you have.
Computer still for sale? Contact the HP Store and talk with a sales rep - describe what you see and ask for an opinion.
If I think of anything else to add, I will post back.
