Small piece of metal inset on underside of Chromebook 14 screen bezel

Hello,

I have various models of Chromebook 14's, G1 thru G4.

I've recently discovered, inset on the underside of the screen bezel, a small piece of metal near the hinge. Every one of my models has this. Does anyone know what it is?

check and see if it is a magnet....sometimes used as a screen closing sensor to turn off the backlight when you close the screen.
