This has been happening for a while now and I can't find ANY information on it but when my laptop is plugged in it's extremely slow, like insanely so. I tried completely resetting my laptop and updating BIOS but to no avail. I tested the ac adapter and it says the smart adapter failed to return valid data. It says to check the pin for my jack but it looks completely fine. Please help.

You very likely need a new power supply. The pin has somehow gone bad. If we had a known good adapter we could test it to see if it runs OK with the good adapter plugged in. But if it runs OK on battery but super slow on AC power a logical answer is there is something wrong with the adapter.
