So can we get a definitive answer if replacing our own thermal paste voids warranty?

Can we get a definitive answer if replacing our own thermal paste voids the warranty. A couple tech says no but one says yes? Can we get some citation of some sort. Thanks!

@SamTheGreat25 You wouldn't void the warranty by changing the thermal post, however, HP does not recommend doing the same, you could instead perform the below steps to reduce the overheating, please follow the below steps to resolve the issue:

Since Thermal Paste and Pads are not considered as customer replaceable parts, doing so will void the warranty.

If you are facing any issues with your Notebook, I suggest you contact HP Support for Service Options

Yeah it will. I usually advise people that upgrades and such are permissible but removal of the heatsink from the motherboard is going to be one step further than HP is going to allow you to do and keep the warranty.

You won't and never get a definitive answer. Warranty is a grey/gray area very hard to say in concrete. For new generation machines, adding something is a work for Authorized Service Provider parts . You can add yourself. If something went wrong due to this upgrade, I think HP would not honor warranty.
