I've had this laptop for years, and just recently the "e" key and a few others repeat FREQUENTLY but unpredictably when I type.
I found something about turning on the "bounce" setting and I've done that but am still having the issue.
Is there another fix to try for repeating keys? (During typing this, it didn't happen once, of course!)

Hi @EmKay,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing issues with repeating keys on your HP Spectre x360, there are several potential solutions you can try.
Update Drivers: Ensure that your keyboard drivers are up to date. Visit the HP support website, enter your laptop model, and download the latest keyboard or chipset drivers.
Check for Updates: Make sure your operating system and all relevant software are up to date. Sometimes, software bugs can cause keyboard issues, and updates may include fixes for these problems.
Keyboard Settings: Go to your system settings and check the keyboard settings. Look for options related to key repeat rate and delay. Adjust these settings to see if it resolves the issue.
Accessibility Options: Check if any accessibility options are turned on that might be causing the repeating key issue. Sometimes, features like Sticky Keys or Filter Keys can affect keyboard behavior.
External Devices: If you have any external devices connected, such as USB keyboards or mice, disconnect them and see if the issue persists. Sometimes, external devices can interfere with the laptop's keyboard.
Testing in Safe Mode: Boot your laptop into Safe Mode and see if the issue persists. If the problem goes away in Safe Mode, it could indicate that a third-party application is causing the problem.
Keyboard Hardware Check: Perform a physical check on your laptop's keyboard. Make sure there's no debris or dust that might be causing the keys to stick. If possible, gently remove the keycap of the affected key and clean underneath.
System File Checker (SFC): Run the System File Checker tool to scan and repair corrupted system files. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type:
sfc /scannow
Let the scan complete and follow any instructions provided.
Reset Keyboard Settings: In the keyboard settings, you may find an option to reset the keyboard settings to default. Try resetting the settings and see if it resolves the issue.
Check for Malware: Perform a full system scan for malware using your antivirus software. Malware can sometimes cause erratic behavior, including issues with the keyboard.
If the problem persists after trying these solutions, it's possible that there may be a hardware issue with the keyboard.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I appreciate the time you took to reply, but none of these suggestions made any difference. I'm not sure if I can "safely" remove the keycap on my specific laptop, so I'm not going to try. It seems to be mostly an issue with one letter on the keyboard. Unfortunately, I'm betting that it's just due to the age of the laptop. I wish there was a software fix, but everything appears to be up-to-date.
