HP Spectre x360 15-DF1040NR
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,
I have been using hy hp spectre x360 15-DF1040NR for about a year and a half in between for like past 2-3 weeks I haven't used my system and then when I just turn on my system I have noticed that 3 of my keys of main keyboard aren't working number 2, number 5 from numlock keys and the end key. I'm pretty sure I haven't used my end key before just got to know about it when I run keyboard test from HP PC hardware diagnosis from component test please can someone help me out with this I don't know whether it's a software problem or a hardware cause I have never used my keyboard vigorously moreover I use my wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse and use my main keyboard occasionally...

Even if I would have used my keyboard more often I guess it should still be good cause its a premium laptop that HP offers

moreover its even operable in tablet mode as well so, the keyboard must be robust as well...

@MananJain

You're expressing a lot of presumptions about laptop keyboards that are incorrect.  The keyboards are built to be lightweight, not robust -- as almost any external keyboard is going to be more robust than a laptop keyboard.

You said you ran the diagnostics but you did not tell us what that said.

Hi,

this sounds like a similar problem that I have with my HP Elitebook 850 G7 since some days.

I posted about it in this forum today. Everything works fine with an external keyboard, but the built-in notebook keyboard does not work properly.

I'm suspecting a driver issue that arose with a windows update recently.

On my system I had a driver update some days back with the following driver:

HP Development Company, L.P. - Extension - 8.10.14.1

Can you check on your system If you had an update on the same driver in your windows update history? It would be interesting to know if that was the case, There might be a problem with the keyboard driver.

I hope there will be a way to fix it by using a different / updated / older driver.

Kind regards

TStav

I don't know I might not have the same version of update but I remember that I have installed some drivers update manually through HP website before my keyboard was working fine...

Is your keyboard working fine now? If so please reply what have you done.

Hi, sorry - still no luck yet.

I tried a couple of things like:

  1. System recovery to a point before that update (However it looks as if the drivers are not getting rolled back) - no luck.
  2. Staring Windows in Recovery Mode to see if the issue is also present there - and it is
  3. Rolling Back the driver in device manager (wich was not possible as the button was greyed out)
  4. Uninstalling the whole driver in device manager in order to let windows re-install and configure it again, which it did but the problem is still there.

Kind Regards

TStav
