Well I hope you like pulling stuffs apart! I have a HP Envy 17 as well and its not to bad to take apart..
Here is a copy of the maintenance and service manual (I couldn't find it on HP's site here)

Looks like you will need this part# 603791-001 For use in the United States and Canada..
Page 61 starts to talk about how to remove the Keyboard.
If I were you I would remove the keyboard and inspect it, and clean any dirty spots with 90% Isopropyl Alcohol. then reinstall to see if I could fix it without buying a new keyboard..

Windows comes with an On-Screen Keyboard (Accessories >> Accessibility/Ease of Access >> On-Screen Keyboard) which highlights whatever modifier keys are being held down.
Or you can try PassMark KeyTest has a Trial..
Can you see if anything is stuck?
