Hey everyone,
I've searched the entire World Wide Web now for a solution to this and found that some HP models have it while some don't.
Additionally, I've discovered that many users are in need of this function, so here's another forum post about it.
Has anyone found a way to fix this yet, or does it require a firmware update before we can get a fix?
And please, don't suggest going into the BIOS and clicking "advanced"; I don't have that option.
There are no "Advanced" options for me, and for many of us.
So, HP R&D, HP Support, HP Management, and others, please help us out here. My x360 is in the dock all the time; I rarely unplug it.

And PLEASE, dont give the me the F10 option to change it in BIOS, there isn't any option there.
Please care a little about your customers, there are tons of requests like this, regual people buy HP and wants this function - Please HP act on that!

Hi @vonkingen,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're looking for a solution to limit the battery charge to 80% on an HP Spectre x360, and it's frustrating that there isn't a simple option like in BIOS or HP's software.
For the HP Spectre and other non-business models, here are a few alternative options that might help:
HP Command Center (Check for Battery Health Manager).
Some newer HP laptops include a feature within the HP Command Center that offers battery management options, including possibly limiting the charge. Make sure to update the HP Command Center through the Microsoft Store to see if any new battery health settings are available.
Third-Party Software
You could try third-party tools like Battery Limiter or Smarter Battery, which let you set charging thresholds. Be cautious and verify the software’s reputation before installation, as third-party solutions come with risks.
Windows Battery Saver Mode
Though it's not an exact solution, enabling Battery Saver Mode in Windows helps by reducing overall battery consumption and preventing overcharging. While this won’t limit the charge directly, it can be used to reduce battery stress.
Manual Power Management
If you frequently dock your laptop, you could manually manage the power by disconnecting the charger once it hits 80% to avoid long periods of overcharging.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden,
First off, thank you for getting back to me.
I see that you're an HP Support Agent, and I was kind of hoping for more accurate answers from you. So let me address your suggestions and provide with a solution
HP Command Center
You know what your programs are capable of, and the Command Center isn't at all helpful for me to set a limiter at 80%.Third-Party Software
When I buy an ASUS, os MSI Acer, or whatever other brand laptop for, say, from €999 and up to €2000 and over, I get all the tools needed to set the limiter. But when I buy an HP laptop for over €2000, I get suggestions to download third-party software, and none of the suggestions offer this! These programs basically just show what percentage my battery is at.Manual Power Management
In my case, I use an HP docking station, and my monitor is connected to it. To simply "disconnect" it would mean that I lose connection to the monitor, mouse, keyboard, headset, and all my other accessories. So that's not an option either!
Now let me introduce the solution here:
The solution:
Give us, your non-business users, the ability to set the charge limit to 80% in the BIOS, like you do for your business users! Please, really PLEASE! There are so many of us asking for this! Like in my case: I never dissconnect the charger (for the reasons stated above)!
