So, after working for a while, and on my third battery (original plus replaced twice as they balooned), I noticed when remote logging in, the laptop was no longer charging.

Since this model has a Frankenstein history of only charging in the barrel connector, or only the type c and even a few times needed both connected, was not surprised.

What did surprise me is that after shutdown (probably ran out of battery) it would not turn on again. Could not get the white light next to the power (barrel port)

ok, after clearing the CMOS with the typical hold 15/30/60 seconds that did not work, tried a few more "clear cmos things) I pulled the bottom cover off. Nothing looked amiss... reseated some connectors, nothing. Then when pressing the power button, I noticed there was a light in the button (who the heck does that, your finger covers it when you push it...dumb)

anyway the light was blinking 3 long, 1 short.... after some more googling, looks like battery problem.

Unplugged battery, and now the system turns on. Looks like I should buy another battery in this case... never seen a case where you could not turn on the laptop if battery bad, but looking at all the wires to it, I guess it's possible.

Another $65 battery! Ouch!
