Hello. I recently purchased an HP Spectre x360 - 13t. The laptop is generally great, but I have an issue with the camera in that it is always really low quality - very grainy, low res and noisy. I set the video and picture quality as high as possible, but it still looks terrible. As it happens, I have an older HP Spectre 15 laptop from work. I put it in the same spot, set the camera to the same settings and took a picture. Same spot, same lighting, same settings - and the older laptop yielded a much higher quality image. Looking at the metadat for the images, both are supposedly 1280 x 720, but the one from my new laptop looks terrible - like a webcam from 10 years ago.
Is there some setting or driver update that can improve the camera performance. In no way is this laptop delivering the video performance I would expect in 2020.
Thanks.

It works very similar to a camera, please give objects more light first.
Regards.

Banhien,
Thanks for your quick response. Unfortunately, it's unsatisfactory.
As I mentioned in my post, an older laptop placed in the same spot with the same lighting yields better photo/video quality, as does my old Microsoft Surface. The room is well lit with 450 W of halogen ceiling lights and also receives significant daylight. The problem is something other than lighting.
Regards,
Jesse

I have this same issue and you didn't reply back. I'm in bright light and no matter what the light the cam not only distorts colors (black looks like purple for instance) but the quality is bad. Hazy, grainy, etc. Please advise.
