This post pertains to the secure digital card limits on the HP Split x2 from Best Buy model 13-g110dx.
The HP Split x2 from Best Buy model 13-g110dx has a microSD card slot in the tablet and a media card reader in the keyboard base. I asked HP tech support whether these slots were compatible with SDXC (extended capacity) type cards and what the storage limits are for these cards. Their responses:
Yes, both slots are compatible with SDXC.
Both are limited to 64GB of storage.
I pressed the tech support rep on the last point. I'm fine with the microSD card in the tablet being limited to 64GB because microSD cards don't get much higher than that now. However, for the standard size SD card in the media reader in the keyboard base, to be limited to 64B, that is quit surprising.
Does anyone have an SD card over 64GB to test the media card reader to see if it can handle more than 64GB?
Thanks,
Mac

nothing is surprising with this model. My wife just told me she loves it so i will put the 240g ssd in the tablet and i have a 1t external hard drive she will use until wd makes some more ultra slim hhd's. the battery life is about 9 hours running a few apps and pandora then part of a netflix movie, it has been running smooth and the freeze i talked about earlier was more the screen not the computer so i just updated the drives. i still want to return it BUT she wins

@Manyarg
It may be possible but not according to the service manual. I purchased 8GB of Crucial RAM that was verified for the other Split x2 models. There was no place to install it in the tablet that I could see. I'm not a pc tech but I'm pretty sure I would have seen it. On the other hand, I did not peel back the covering surrounding the CPU area.
How did the ebay seller describe it being the Best Buy model? Did s/he use the 13-g110dx model number? That's the only i5 Haswell HP Split x2 sold at Best Buy to my knowledge.

@macboat
Is is described as "NEW HP 13-G110DX Convertible 13.3" Touch-Screen Laptop i5 1.6GHz 8GB 128GB SSD" he mentions in the post that he only opened the box to upgrade the ram, also in crucial's site there is a memory upgrade for sale for the same model, after reading that, I decided to purchase the model on black friday for $650

Hello everybody! I am tsimkus, the original post for this topic. I want to thank all of you, particularly you "macboat", and "banheien", and "supermario1", and "hooraybeer", for all your work in the research and trials. I have a Best Buy i3 version of the Split X2 with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal SSD, and have taken notes on all your postings in order to try my own version of what you all have been doing... heading to 8GB of RAM, 240 GB of internal SSD, and 500GB or more of HDD (once we can find the 5mm WD drive). I am also awaiting word on the 64GB limit for the SD card reader, and appreciate the microSD 64GB option. A good way to exchange data quickly, or keep it in my pocket for safe keeping when I can't get to the "cloud".
