I bought HP split 13X2 M110DX PC on thanksgiving sale from best buy.
After reading this thread, I got all pumped up for upgrade and bought 8gb
ram and ,HDD kit and WD-500gb hard drive. I successfully upgraded the RAM. but
upon opening the keyboard i found that it do not have HD connector. SO, i had to order
new HDMI obard. I'm still waiting on HDMI board. Ever since I opened the keyboard base ,
the keyboard stopped working. Wireless light, usb port, memory card reader and pointer are working
but Audio-out(headphone jack/audio-in microphone jack) and character keys are not working. I
tried uninstalling/installing/updating the driver. I also tried pressing 'esc' and 'f2' button to get to bios set up
while rebooting but non seem to work. Any body have any idea where i could have gone wrong?
DId any body face this kind of issue? Any help and suggesstions are appreciated.

Hi, how did you install the RAM? It must located in the lid/tablet. There have been a few versions of the split X2 some of which had the ram soldered in.

I do photo editing on my laptops. I was really, really irritated to find that I couldn't upgrade the RAM on this machine!  That is incredibly stupid on HP's part. 4 GB is NOT adequate, even for teh basic OS and web browsing, etc.

Unfoirtuantely I had already owned it for 2 months, so it was too late to take it back.

My very cheap $300 Acer i3 that I bought 2 years earlier and upgraded to 8 GB of RAM was faster than the i5 HP Split.  I wound up replacing the HP with an Asus i5 with 8GB of RAM, a 1920x1080 screen, backlit keyboard, touch screen, etc. for $500 and am very happy with the Asus.  🙂

Anyway ... The left speaker on my HP Split became very distorted after about 5-6 months. I never had it fixed under warranty, I just never got around to it.

Now that it is out of warranty, is it an easy fix to replace the left audio speaker?

I don't mean to hijack this thread. I will look around for more information too.

I just figured you all are the "experts" on how to work on this laptop, after all of the hacking. Thanks!

Sounds like something is not connected correctly upon openning the shell on the bottom. I went ahead and checked out how mine works to see what part would be needed to expand storage inside the keyboard. took mine apart and back together without any issues or problems. Recheck make sure everything is connected or looks in order.

Hi, Can anybody supply instructions on how to remove the back cover on the screen of the Split x2 model 13-g110dx?

My screen has a loose connection to the motherboard and I cannot open it.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions.

Hey maddend, see Page 45-46 of the maintenance & service manual

I've looked at the service manual again p45 & 46, but I cannot locate the screw covers or screws on the screen base.

Is there a variation in models in relation to the screen access design?

The computer you did the upgrade on (from BB) was it the 13-g110dx?  I paid $900 at BB for this "upgraded model", there was a cheaper one, and I'm 99.9% sure it said it could be upgraded to 8 GB ram.  But I purchased a 8 GB memory stick from Crucial and took to Geek Squad to install and they said they could not.

Then I called HP and they said it was soldered to the mother board so could not be upgraded.  But the manual which is posted here shows the 4 GB is removable.  I can probably replace it myself, but don't want to open up this case if its soldered to the mother board.  I'm very unhappy with BB, as they advertised this as being upgradable.

Please let me know of this was the G model you upgraded to 8 GB of RAM.

Thanks.
