That sounds awesome, quote: "Can you upgrade a laptop screen from HD 1366 x 768 to Full HD 1920 x 1080? It worked!"
Look, few things are certain in life. You try to find the facts and the evidence as best you can -as you are certainly doing, and even so, sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith, so to speak, and go for it.

No, you cannot. The discrete graphics is soldered onto the system board, depending which system board you got:

Meaning, if you want to enhance your laptop's graphics capabilities, you will have to swap your system board with one that has the added discrete graphics capabilities.

The best system board (part number: 925618-601 "Intel Core i7-7500U processor and 4 GB of dedicated video memory") can be purchased online, such as via AliExpress: Genuine 925618-601 925618-001 448.0C705.0011 i7-7500U 530/4GB GPU Laptop Motherboard for HP Laptop 1... and the second best system board (part number: 939591-601 "Intel Core i5-8250U processor and 2 GB of dedicated video memory") can also be purchased via AliExpress: StoneTaskin High quality 939591-601 For HP 17-BS Laptop Motherboard MB With Core I5-8250U DDR4 530 2....
Please Note: this is not where I would spend my money on. Upgrading a legacy laptop may be a nice hobbyist-project, it is not the best way to allocate your hard-earned money. If you need better processing/graphics performance, in my personal opinion, it makes more sense to consider replacing your current laptop with a new(er) one.
