Envy 15

Hello,

Today I bought a brand new Envy-15-ep0001nl. I hear a constant electrical sound like coil whine. Its intensity and tone change but it is always audible. I am sure that it is not coming from the fans or the speakers. It sounds like HDD noise but the laptop has a SDD. I actually have the same problem with my company laptop. I do not know its model but it it also has a SSD and 10th gen. i5 processor. But it is almost not audible. Instead on my own laptop it is so clear and annoying.

A side note is that I hear the exact same noise also from the power adapter. The two noises are synchronized. It is less likely there is something to be fixed but I want to understand if this is normal or not. If this is not unique to my laptop, probably there is a design issue on the power regulation stage of the computers.

Thanks

Could be anything - less likely a hardware problem on a brand new computer - but anything is possible.

So, sure, could be a "rattle" of some kind.

Could be you are extra sensitive to this kind of noise.  Some people are very sensitive to certain frequencies.  People with this level of sensitivity have trouble around some kinds of technology.

If you are concerned that the computer is suffering a hardware issue, contact HP Support in your region.

Why?  Because regardless of the opinion of random strangers, you might be worried until you talk to support.

What else?

Have a friend / colleague listen to the computer and offer an opinion on what he / she hears.
