HP Spectre X360 13t
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have had my new diamond cut HP Spectre X360 (late 2018) 13 inch model for a little over a week now and it has operated flawlessly, especially compared to previous versions of the Spectre.  I have noticed that there is a faint crackling noise, almost like listening to Morse Code, eminating from the center of the keyboard/touchpad area.  I have done research and it does not sound like traditional coil whine, nor is it at all related to the fan, but it is acute enough in a quiet environment to be very annoying.

My question is are there any quick fixes to solve this problem without having to send the system back?  I cannot afford to be without a primary driver and the Spectre already has all my files and applications on it I need to do my work, school stuff, etc.  I have read where others who have experienced something similair with HP systems had luck changing out the AC charger, updating the BIOS, or changing BIOS/system configurations.

I completely rigged this baby out, and for paying $2,300 for the i7 CPU, 2tb NVMe, etc and I expect a lot more for a premium machine.  Does anyone have any advice for me to solve this issue?

@dvan17,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I recommend you update the BIOS and the graphics driver from the below link and check if it helps.

If you continue facing the issue, install all the Windows updates.

Here is how it is done.

  1. Open the Settings menu and go to Update & security > Windows Update.
  2. Click Check for updates to prompt your PC to scan for the latest updates. The update will be downloaded and installed automatically.
  3. Click Restart Now to restart your PC and complete the installation process.

 Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
