My fan needs to be replaced. To determine the correct replacement, I need to know if you PC has a graphics subsystem with discrete or UMA memory. My processor is an Intel Core 17-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz and the Display adapter is an Interl HD Graphics 4000. Can you tell from this whether I have discrete or UMA memory? Thanks.

If ONLY Intel HD Graphics 4000 then it is UMA. But what exactly is your machine ? Please use the following instructions to find out

Please do NOT post its Serial number (s/n).
Regards.

My laptop is an HP ENVY dv6 Notebook - Product Number C2Y45AV - with an Intel Core i7-3630QM CPU 2.40GHz with an Intel HD Graphics 4000 display adapter. The other Graphics display adapter is the StarTech.com USB3SDOCKHDV.
I received an error message today that my fan is not working properly. I am trying to verify what part to buy to replace the fan. According to the manual the Fan/heat sink assembly part number depends on whether I have graphics subsystem with discrete memory or UMA memory. The manual states:
1) For use only on computer models equipped with an Intel processor and a graphics subsystem with discrete memory 682061-001
2) For use only on computer models equipped with an Intel processor and a graphics subsystem with UMA memory
682060-001
Your advice as to which fan part is the right one would be appreciated .

You suggested that my graphics subsystem memory would be UMA. Your response was "If ONLY Intel HD Graphics 4000 then it is UMA." Then you asked exactly what my machine was and I replied that the Product number was C2Y45AV. Does that confirm or change your original answer that my machine has UMA memory? Thanks again.
