HP Pavilion - 15-cs0511sa
Microsoft Windows 11

I currently have a HP Pavilion - 15-cs0511sa as a personal laptop but through my work, I also have an Elitebook 840 G5 (soon to be G8). As part of my ability to work from home, I have also been issued a USB-C dock G5 to support an external monitor. I have tried connecting it to the HP Pavilion but it doesn't seem to work (or didn't the last time I tried). I was wondering if there is a suitable dock to use with both devices, or a way to get the G5 dock to work with the Pavilion, so whoever is in the home office at the time (me using the Elitebook or the other half using the Pavilion) could utilise the additional screen and reduce the need for an additional charger and USB hub on the desk.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

The specs of your Pavilion is

           https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06060783

It has  1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, HP Sleep and Charge) port which is NOT compatible with your HP USB-C G5 dock. The HP 840 G5 and 840 G8 will work.

For the Pavilion, if you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only), you can use

     Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,

Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as

                           USB to HDMI Adapter

Regards.
