hi, i have "HP ENVY 15-j110tx Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)"  BIOS version F.72 Insyde-2018.  mother-board 1963 KBC 93.64 as of now i am planning to update my laptop to SSD. to which SSD type my laptop mohter and BIOS has support to.?

 

i know that it can Support SATA SSD

does it have support for m.2 

1. M.2 SATA

2. M.2 PCIE NVME SSD (how many lanes dedicated for data transafer)

 

please let me know  if you need any mre info from my side

Your only option is to replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD.

 

Your notebook does not have any M.2 slots.  It has a mSATA slot for a mSATA SSD, but I don't think that will work if you have a hard drive installed.

 

Below is the link to the service manual.  Chapter 1 has the supported drive types...

Hi Paul, Thank you for your quick response. i will then stick with the 2.5" SSD.

 

now, as i am installing windows 10 from scratch and SDD will be my only drive, how do it download HP utilities which was preinstalled when i bought my laptop, so that i can check for updates and support from HP?

 

Also i want to create Recovery Partition wich was there originally but it has windiws 8.1 and not 10 so how do i configure it for my latest windows?

You will only be able to get the software that is available on the support page.

 

You will not be able to do anything with the recovery partition.
