Hi All
Running a new thread as my previous has gone cold without any response!
My question is ...... WHAT is the most compatible memory type which can be used with the HP G61-355DX?
I know the most capacity is 8Gb. but what speed? is it 10600 (1333MHz) or 8500 (1066MHz)
The manual is very confusing in this regard as it contradict itself regarding memory.
Hope to get a reply soon
Cheers

The memory runs at 1066. 1333 will work (downclocked to 1066) so vendors will sell you that. 12800 aka 1600 will likely cause problems as you have seen.

Hi,
Your PC supports max 8GB of DDR3 1066Mhz RAM.
It might be possible to insert faster RAM, but it will run at 1066Mhz.
You can see on page 2 of service manual:

Hope it helps,
David

Hi David
Problem is that the HP Part numbers on the same manual, when searched (on ebay) shows that theyre 1333MHz. that is what the confusion is about. Im not very worried about the speed as long as it works. How ever My Lappy has an issue of not letting the O/S make use of the entire ram plugged in. It has reserved more than half of the total.
Anyway Im currently using PC12800 sticks, and i assume that this is the reason for the memory issue
cheers
