Hi,

I recently purchased a laptop built in Japan for the Japanese market. At the current moment the keyboard has a part # L09594-291 and i am planning it to change to UK variant which will be having a part # L09594-031. Will it fit perfectly?

Secondly, I was wondering if it is possible to swap it with a Back-lit model keyboard(UK variant). I mean is the socket for back lighting available and will the BIOS recognize it and display its options accordingly?

The laptop was shipped with a non back-lit keyboard.

Look at pages 20 and 48 of the Manual here:

Manual

Yes the motherboard has an attachment for the ribbon cable used to power the backlight and on this model it will be a simple (fairly) matter of removing the old keyboard and replacing it with the backlit UK English version.

L09593-031

HP actually has the part in stock:

Thanks Huffer for your prompt and detailed response.

Please confirm the changes to be made in the BIOS setup or will it detect automatically, the back lighting feature?

HP Recommended

Yes the backlight will work as intended you do not need to change anything in the BIOS.
