I want to upgrade my systems ram from 12 GB to 16 GB, but i am not sure if the rest of my laptop can handle it. I have listed the information about my device here. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me if it can handle the upgrade and recommend some ram sticks that I should use. Thank you in advance.

Service Manual:
Memory is DDR4-2666 SO-DIMM. See p. 31. Memory replacement is customer authorized so no warranty concerns. 8 gb module is HP Part No. 937236-855 and this module would work fine:

Max memory is actually 32 gigs but the upgrade from 12 to 16 will be noticeable and very economical.

What is the model of the computer? In every case I have ever seen, the computer can take 2 memory modules the same size if it can take 2 memory modules. So if it will handle an 8 gig and a 4 gig it will handle two 8 gig modules. The very safe thing to do is to find another module just like the 8 gig already in the computer. HP always provides memory from the factory which is as fast as the system can handle. There is no advantage to trying to install gaming or performance memory and the OEM memory installed from the factory works fine. If you identify the model number of the laptop we can be more specific.
