The key that should output "<" ">" and "\" is outputted as control all the other keys output the right character. My keyboard in windows is set to Belgisch (punt) (Belgian (dot)) and the key is indeed in the standard spot for right control but i really need the "<" ">" and "\" characters. I saw that the keyboard layout of the laptop is apparently Full-size island-style but i could not find a corresponding layout (what even is island style). Thanks in advance.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.
I have gone through your Post and I would like to help
Let's update the BIOS from this Link: https://support.hp.com/rs-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-Gaming-15-cx0000-Laptop-PC/20284020/mod... and also reinstall the Keyboard drivers
- Select the Start button, type Device Manager, and select it from the list of results.
- Look for Keyboards and expand the List
- Look for Keyboard driver then right-click it, and select Update Driver.
- Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
- If these steps don't work, try reinstalling the driver: Open Device Manager, right-click the Keyboard driver and select Uninstall. Restart your PC and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
The Island Style Keyboard is also known as Chiclet Keyboard. You can go through this Wikipedia Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiclet_keyboard for more information on Island Style Keyboard
