When I open my HP Laptop, I hear a cracking sound and above the left hinge the screen is separating from its casing. When open there is space between the screen and casing about the width of a pen. I just noticed very small pieces of plastic on my desk near the hinge. Looking from the back of the screen I am able to see some of the components at the hinge.
Sometimes the separation extends to the side of the screen where I can snap everything back in place.
When I close the computer it does not close flat like the other side. There is a large gap (about 1 inch) between screen and keyboard.
This issue just started today. can anybody help me fix this?

@Rob9902
I faced the same issue with my old Samsung laptop, at first it makes some cracking sound with some gap there in between
the laptop lid and the base.
It is due to the damaged or stuck hinge of laptop.
I prefer you immediately take it to a service center as it may even go worse damaging your display panel as mine was damaged similarly.
