Hi, my daughter broke the screen on her HP 14-dv0511sa. As it was a touch screen she needed the screen and digitiser replaced. She had it repaired locally but on getting it back the touch screen didn't work so she returned it to them. They have now tried a further 3 replacement screens but none of them work. She is now having it returned to her with the original broken screen to take it somewhere else but I'm concerned she may have the same issue. Does anyone have any idea what the issue may be that is causing this and what may solve it. When it came back the first time I got her to check in the device manager and there didn't seem to be any mention of a touch screen in the HID section

In the Device Manager have you checked to ensure that show hidden devices is enabled?
Click on the view tab in the Device Manager to find and click on show hidden devices
If the HID touchscreen device is still not present:
I would consider performing either a fresh reinstallation of Windows or a Windows Reset. Save all important data to an external storage device before doing that.
I replaced a number of display assemblies on laptops with Touchscreen capabilities and only had what you have reported happen to me one time. A fresh installation of Windows 10 resolved the issue.
If we knew the brand of touchscreen that was present, it would be a simple matter of going to the Windows Update Catalog, downloading the driver and installing it.
Since we do not know, the options are somewhat lifted to giving Windows a fresh start at recognizing all of the hardware devices that are in your laptop.
By the way, it always helps to let us know what the installed OS is.

Hi Erico, thank you for taking the time to message. I have sent your comments onto the company that has my daughters laptop for them to try and I will let you know if this resolves the issue. I'm not sure which OS it has but it was brought just under 2 years ago so I'm guessing windows 11?

Replacing a display assembly is a simple task for a laptop repair shop.
I hope it is a warranty repair on their work.
It probably was Windows 11, although there are also Windows 10 drivers available at the laptop's support page
