Yes, it passes the touch pad test as I stated before but it still does not function well enough to use on a regular basis. I am going to try resetting to factory specs again and see if that helps. Nothing to lose because it can't be used like this...

Did a complete reinstall. Everything worked fine up to the point it wanted an e-mail address to log into Microsoft. Then it locked up. Keyboard did nothing mouse pad did nothing. I turned it off and back on. It went throught the first part of the set up with the keyboard then stopped with it saying just a moment and has done nothing for ten minutes now. I'll shut it off again and see what happens next, I guess.....

I tried again and it locked up when picking US as the keyboard. I shut it off, took out the battery, held the power button down a while. I put it back together. This time it when through the set up and finished. but, alas, the exact same mouse pad and button problems are still present. I am currently checking for HP updates. I do not expect anything to help at this point. I think I have a target for shotgun practice. The bad part is that my daughter is out $150 for a Lap Top my grand daughter was supposed to have for school. I have a ten year old Dell here that works better than a 1 1/2 year old HP. Sad....
