Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-d0000 (2V8U6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My touchpad is generally working fine

After a while though, the leftmost and topmost part of my touch pad tends to stop responding to touch. When I turn the device off and on using the FN keys it returns to normal operation. Same with a system reboot.

What I am wondering... Did anyone run into this issue, and was a full system reset the solution? Because I am really not willing to do all the trouble of wiping and reinstalling windows and then re-installing all my software. It will take me days..

I am wondering if more people had this issue and what the solution was.

Because

Last time I had a HP service person over because communication with battery wasn't working. he tried to wipe my entire system (laptop was at most 2 weeks old and problem was there from the start). I had to tell him to go look at the connector first and as my suspicions were correct, HP factory did not plugin the battery connector properly.

Hi @123144,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing touchpad issues with your Victus by HP 16.1 Inch Gaming Laptop. Touchpad problems can be frustrating, but there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.

  • Check touchpad settings: Make sure the touchpad is enabled in the laptop's settings. On Windows, you can go to the Control Panel or the Settings app, then look for the "Mouse" or "Touchpad" settings. Ensure that the touchpad is turned on and that any relevant settings are properly configured.
  • Update touchpad drivers: Outdated or incompatible touchpad drivers can cause problems. Visit the HP support website and search for your specific laptop model to find the latest touchpad drivers. Download and install them according to the provided instructions.
  • Restart the laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can fix touchpad issues. Save your work, close any open applications, and restart your laptop to see if the touchpad starts working again.
  • Clean the touchpad: It's possible that dirt, dust, or debris may be affecting the touchpad's performance. Use a soft cloth or microfiber cloth to gently clean the surface of the touchpad. Avoid using harsh chemicals or excessive moisture.
  • Disable gestures or palm rejection: Some touchpad gestures or palm rejection settings might interfere with the touchpad's responsiveness. Go to the touchpad settings and try disabling any advanced gestures or palm rejection features to see if it resolves the issue.
  • Test in safe mode: Boot your laptop into safe mode and check if the touchpad works properly. Safe mode loads only essential drivers and services, which can help determine if any third-party software or drivers are causing conflicts.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
