Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just got this HP-15. Windows 10 was installed just before I got it, I start setting it up, and realize I need to turn off the touchpad. So I go to Control Panel>Mouse settings, there is no touchpad listed, I go to the Device Manager there is no touchpad listed there either. But it works just fine. I try to update the driver, download the driver, and try to install it, Error: unable to find device. I t ry a system restore, still no touchpad. I tried to do a system restore, but W10 has been on machine such a short time that a restore would take it back to W8.1, and unable to restore w10, I don't want that.  What else can I try other than taking back to the guy I got it from and have him reinstall W10. I can do that but I don't want to.

@Echo_Lake Thank you for your reply, however you didn't read my post very carefully. You said to go in settings>Mouse and disable the trackpad. Whereas I specifically said that when I go into Settings>Mouse there WAS NO TRACKPAD LISTED, when I went into the Device Manager, there was no trackpad listed.

However I managed to download some third party software which made Windows recognize the trackpad, so I have the situation fixed.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Method 1: To turn the touchpad off, click "Start" and then "Control Panel." Double-click the "Mouse" settings. Click the "Device Settings" tab, and click "Disable" to disable the touchpad. You can select "Enable" to use it again.

Method 2: Double-tapping the upper-left-hand corner of the TouchPad enables or disables the TouchPad. When disabled, some models display a graphic on the screen showing the TouchPad with a red line through it.

Click here https://support.hp.com/ie-en/document/c03882926 to know how to disable the Double Tap to Enable or Disable TouchPad feature.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
