HP EliteBook 840 G6 Notebook PC

Hello, dear community. I decided to Upgrade my laptop HP 840 G6 to touchscreen 120Hz screen. I bought on eBay genuine screen with touchscreen.  finally, the touchscreen doesn’t work. Screen itself works perfectly but the message "No pen or touch input is available for this display". My wife has HP 840 G5 with touchscreen and i put my new display to her laptop. works perfectly. Put back to mine - display works but without touchscreen. How to make touchscreen working? Can you help me please. I searched all the internet and cannot find the answer.

In the Support web portal for the HP 840 G6, HP put the link to the wrong laptop support document.

The Maintenance & Service guide there is for the older 830 G6 notebook, not the 840 G6.

If the touchscreen display you bought works on your wife's 840 G5, but not yours, it is most likely that the display solution your laptop has does not have support for it. That is not something you will be able to change.

Did your laptop have a touchscreen in its original configuration? If not, you have your answer.

Hello Erico,

Thank you for your answer.

In original configuration my laptop doesn’t have a touchscreen. My wife's has. i understand your point. But, therefore, the motherboard doesn’t support the touchscreen functions? if so, there must be specific marking or difference in the part number of the motherboard. But i analyzed tens of them and some supports the touch - some doesn’t but the part number is the same. How it can be. that’s why i suppose that the motherboard is the same (if the new touchscreen is genuine and has genuine video cable with right number if pins - i have exact one, tested & working touchscreen)  but it has specific set up in BIOS or i don’t know where. And my question was if anybody knows that how to activate the touchscreen?

Thank you,

Maxim.
