So after I believe accidentally doing a hard reset on my computer, my track pad stopped working. I’m not sure 100% sure it was a hard reset but I have reason to believe it is and was the cause. Regardless since they I have attempted a few ways to fix the issue and some odd things have happened as far as I know:
Checked trackpad settings and made sure they were on
Attempted to update relevant drivers, they were already updated
Attempted to roll back drivers, and subsequently update them again
Attempted to uninstall and reinstall drivers
NOTE in regards to drivers menu: Oddly enough at one point ‘Mice and other pointing devices’ had two HID-complaint mouse buttons with no ‘Symparics PrecisionnTouchpad Filter Driver’ and when this occurred another touchpad button could be found under Human Interface devices, when there is only one HID-complaint button with a Symparics PrecisionnTouchpad Filter Driver’ button under mouse there is nothing relating to touchpads under Human Interface devices.
Double tapping upper left
Settings > Mouse > Additional Mouse Options > ‘Device settings’ option does NOT appear
Checking for updates, all installed
Hard reset…. after the other potential hard reset, before I realized that might’ve been the cause
Downloading Hardware Diagnostics components test and testing the trackpad/mouse led to something… very odd happening when I initiated the process to begin the test, the cursor was able to be moved and once I furthered to the test I could actually click with the touch pad (I could only move the cursor previously) but when I passed the test and went back to the Home Screen it was no longer working.
As you can probably tell I’ve tried many things and still at a loss, any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks.

That is a story in which you have perhaps not recounted all of the details of the repair attempts. I say that because of the " Regardless since they I have attempted a few ways to fix the issue "
I am not judging, I would just prefer to have the whole story and understand that you may not know exactly what "they" attempted..
There should be only one Synaptics Precision Touchpad filter driver in the Device Manager.
If the touchpad test results in cursor movement, but not when Windows is booted, that means that the touchpad is \okay at the firmware level, but driver software is not installed or enabled.
In the Control Panel --> Mouse Properties tab, there should be a Synaptics Precision Touchpad Filter Driver of type Mouse and other.
I see a couple of options.
Connect a wired mouse and go to Device Manager and delete both Synaptics Precision Touchpad Filter Driver device instances and exit the Device Manager and restart your laptop.
Upon restart and booting and login into Windows, if connected to the internet, your touchpad should be working again.
For the next suggestion, you will need your laptop's serial number before performing an HP cloud recovery on your laptop!
Use the HP Software Recovery on another PC to create a USB recovery flash drive and reinstall Windows completely.
