HP x360 13-a080na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Today i have gotten done with replacing the LCD panel on my x360. However when i boot up the device, the touchpad is now refusing to work. Under the device manager i can see a generic HID mouse, but nothing specific to the laptop. I tried to reinstall the synaptics driver but this has done nothing, and now i am stuck, can anyone help me with this?

Edit 1: It seems that that HID mouse is present regardless of weather or not the ribbon cable is plugged into the ZIF on the trackpad.

I understand that after replacing the LCD panel on your HP x360, that your touchpad is not recognized in Device manager.
Is the touchpad recognized in the bios? If it is not, then try reseating the cable connections (both ends) and rechecking. If the BIOS still does not recognize it, then it could be the cable, try replacing it. If it is listed in the BIOS you could test it for a hardware failure. HP Notebook PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 10, 😎
If the BIOS does recognize it, do you have any unknown devices listed in Device Manager?  If so try deleting the unknown device and then scan for hardware changes.

Please let me know the outcome.

So I worked out the problem. Apparently I had the ribbon cable in the wrong way around. I took the cable out and checked the ends and worked out they had labels on them, reversed them and hard reset the machine and the mouse pointer started working again. I would suggest maybe pointing this out in your repair guides, but everything is good now, thank you 🙂
